Going Home

I made this picture in color in Nov 2003. The original image was a little blurry because I made it while standing in the last car of a fast moving southbound train on the way to my Dad's house in Charleston, SC. I guess that makes it a little unusual because I was observing where I had been and not where I was headed.

When a friend saw the image on my monitor, he said it looked like going to the "light at the end of the tunnel". Metaphorically however, I was not going from the dark to a brighter place but just the opposite. I was leaving the light and going to a darker place...placing my Dad into a nursing home from which he would never leave. But I didn't think about any of that, at least consciously, as I was bouncing and swaying down the tracks homebound. I just thought it was an interesting view.
